12/11/12(Mon)04:54

People in 15 states have filed petitions to secede from the Union in anger over the recent election. Ha! Good luck with that!

>>21207 yes, goodgrief. Thank you for the response. I still see DOMA and Prop 8 as constitutional challenges to the law, as do some lower courts, and lots of people. I was just trying to get a clearer idea of what you were saying. :)

That explains a lot ;) Get well soon, mister Fox!

What the Supreme Court may say is: "States may not make laws concerning morals." Do morals challenge the Constitution? No. So, can the Supreme Court even HEAR the case? Not saying the system in place works best. Am saying the system in place is what we have and I'm just stating that system. If the system isn't working, repeal the laws and introduce those that will change the status quo. Do I personally agree with men sleeping with men? Hell no! My personal beliefs have nothing to do with law though. The problem with states and the government not recognizing this unnatural marriage is that the majority of the population doesn't recognize it and the majority rules.
...on the pot issue..once again federal statute law is already a law. I think the Supreme Court will just confirm this if they do anything at all. What transpires between the feds and states will be interesting.

10/12/12(Mon)22:54

>>21133 Does Seafox think Obama sits on the Supreme Court now and decides what is or is not constitutional??? I'm so confused by your comment..

>>21127 goodgrief, I believe the two cases (DOMA and Prop 8) are both constitutional challenges. The Supreme Court may effectively say any state ban of gay marriage is unconstitutional. I'm not sure I understand your comment, other than to say the system in place is the way that works best. The problem is that other states will not recognize the marriage, and the Feds certainly do not recognize it. Can you expand on your thoughts?

10/12/12(Mon)12:47

>>21138 First, Texas can divide into 5 states, if it wishes, because it was written into the 'deal' when it became a state. Secondly, some of the information in that video is not quite complete. The creator of the video should have investigated the written law (see comment 20726 below). Agreed that some states would suffer due to federal aid were they to secede. Not Texas. Texas actually pays more in to the federal government in taxes than they get back. We're the 15th largest economy in the world with no debt and a balanced budget. Third, Obama and Congress are out of the equation when it comes to "peaceful secession" as we answer only to the constitution and don't have to ask them crapola. Our Governor, Rick Perry, says he'll never sign a bill to secede. My answer to that is: "You work for us, Mr. Perry". Fourth, Texas is just doing a lot of sword ratteling and should shut up.

Al-obama doesn't pay any attention to any silly little Constitution written by silly white men with their silly little ideas!
He doesn't like it because everyone knows he didn't write it! But I'm sure he'll take credit for it!

09/12/12(Sun)00:55

If the Supreme Court hears ANY case, it MUST challenge the Constitution. Neither of these meet that criterion. Any marriage law has always been on a state level as in some states require papers and blood tests and some don't. WHO gets married is still within state law. Supreme Court has no business even hearing that case. If they do, look out for more human rights to be flushed down the shitter. Smoking pot is a whole other issue. They should say.." Statute Law is already in place" and leave it at that.

08/12/12(Sat)18:39

>>21117 Yes, I think all this is going to do, is make court costs higher, and any particular case longer! And in the end, the lawers richer!

07/12/12(Fri)21:23

>>21115 I suspect it would be difficult for any president to actually move to legalizing marijuana, simply based on the perception that the government would say pot is okay.

And much like the Supreme Court will decide on gay marriage issues by next summer, I'm sure pot cases will end up there fairly soon as well.

07/12/12(Fri)21:18

>>21112 Yes, Al-obama doesn't like it when any kind of American (or State) makes any money!

"The Obama administration is considering legal action against Colorado and Washington after the states voted to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, the New York Times reported Thursday:

Marijuana use in both states continues to be illegal under the federal Controlled Substances Act. One option is to sue the states on the grounds that any effort to regulate marijuana is pre-empted by federal law."

"but officer I'm Dutch and I thought a kilo was the norm"

15/11/12(Thu)21:15

Excerpt from the blog post by the Seattle Police Department, headlined "Marijwhatnow? A Guide to Legal Marijuana Use In Seattle" was written to explain what happens now that Washington State voters have approved Initiative 502, which decriminalizes possession of small amounts of marijuana (effective on Dec. 6).

"Can I legally carry around an ounce of marijuana?

"According to the recently passed initiative, beginning December 6th, adults over the age of 21 will be able to carry up to an ounce of marijuana for personal use. Please note that the initiative says it "is unlawful to open a package containing marijuana...in view of the general public," so there's that. Also, you probably shouldn't bring pot with you to the federal courthouse (or any other federal property).

"What happens if I get pulled over and I'm sober, but an officer or his K9 buddy smells the ounce of Super Skunk I've got in my trunk?

"Under state law, officers have to develop probable cause to search a closed or locked container. Each case stands on its own, but the smell of pot alone will not be reason to search a vehicle. If officers have information that you're trafficking, producing or delivering marijuana in violation of state law, they can get a warrant to search your vehicle.

"SPD seized a bunch of my marijuana before I-502 passed. Can I have it back?

"No."

15/11/12(Thu)04:34

60% of imported drugs is marijuana. Central America and Columbia would go bankrupt. Legalize drugs and crime would drop considerably. 70% of prison inmates is drug related. No more new prisons and more tax money saved.

15/11/12(Thu)00:26

out of a 'job' ;)

MJ should be government controlled so that they control the growth and the THB value and maybe even the distributed process. Sell at dump prices, that will teach those 'dealers' (somewhat).
Unfortunately we can't stop crime.

14/11/12(Wed)23:43

"Drug Prevention" is a billion dollar industry and so, so many people would be out of a job if drugs were legalized. The 'dealer' would be out of a job the next day. People are going to use drugs. FACT! Methinks durgs could be far better controlled if the corner pharmacy sold them . Think of the extra revenue and lower taxes (ha). No more would the elementary school kid buy drugs through a fence and the corner telephone would go out of business. No more 'kick-door' roberies and the gangs would have to fight over something else.

even though MJ is 'allowed' in the Netherlands, and we have a special program for substance abuse users (cocaine, heroin),
crime is still high (lol)
The weird shit is, coffee shops are allowed to sell it but the import of the product is illegal :/
So anybody with some free space, but also criminals of course, are the suppliers of the tolerated coffee shops. Politics..

Of course not every city has a coffee shop, however it does have your local 'farmer' <wink wink> And it turns out MJ grows really good between corn. Didn't SeaFox grew corn?

14/11/12(Wed)19:21

California law does not allow for for-profit sales of medical marijuana and Los Angeles County has some issues with too many illegal dispensaries. The feds just came in recently and shut down many of them, as they were in violation of state law.

But I agree with you, goodgrief.. we have rules and regulations for almost everything. We simply do not have enforcement. Legalize these drugs, some new problems appear, but most other problems will go away.

14/11/12(Wed)12:41

Gay marriage and having children allowed, although not by some people (Protestant Reformers, etc).

MJ, yes..in my words 'Illegal but tolerated" ;)

14/11/12(Wed)11:23

What kind of laws does Holland have regarding these matters? Our largest problem here is with crack cocaine. If the state would legalize dope of any kind, there would be a lot less crime around.

14/11/12(Wed)11:10

We don't have a 'gay marriage law' nor leagal or medical smoke but everyone smokes and fucks just the same.

14/11/12(Wed)07:04

I know Washington did, also for gay marriage, does Texas allow both?

13/11/12(Tue)22:25

>>20731 Agreed on both counts. It's the sour grapes syndrome this year but the question is "Why now?" There's been closer elections than this one and besides presidential voting has nothing to do with secession. I think it's going to be interesting to see if Colorado has to secede to retain recreational weed puffing. I think either Oregon or Washington voted for Mary Jane also.

13/11/12(Tue)21:39

>>20726 Attempting to secede from the union because the two party system has been bought and paid for and no longer has the best interests of the American people in mind, makes sense. I understand that message.

Attempting to secede from the union because "your" guy lost both the popular vote and electoral college and now you are sour grapes, because you believe Obama is a Kenyan-born, muslim-loving, socialist who is destroying the planet, does not make sense.

13/11/12(Tue)12:32

>>20717 Moot point, Vis; argument was that 57% of Texas voted Romney. They lost sight of the overall electorial vote of the states. Being that Texas only answers to the Constitution (not Congress or the President) it has the right of "Peaceful Susession" and is protected under the 10th Ammendment. Any state, for that matter, can do so likewise. When the South seceded (before the Civil War) they had every right to do so but Lincoln used the bayonet to change matters. He and Congress overstepped the power of the Constitution. Texas already has 35,000 signatures (by the way) of the required 25,000 that it takes to petition Congress.

"Peter Morrison, who serves as treasurer of the Hardin County Republican Party(TEXAS), wrote in his post-election newsletter that there was a clear solution to the problem of Obama’s re-election.

"We must contest every single inch of ground and delay the baby-murdering, tax-raising socialists at every opportunity," Morrison wrote. "But in due time, the maggots will have eaten every morsel of flesh off of the rotting corpse of the Republic, and therein lies our opportunity."

"Texas was once its own country, and many Texans already think in nationalist terms about their state. We need to do everything possible to encourage a long-term shift in thinking on this issue. Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government? Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years," he wrote."

12/11/12(Mon)19:54

And how many of these angry white republicans who want to secede are collecting food stamps?
