That's enough, JC

So the heat wave is here. After good weather (~25C) we, the Dutch (and most of Europe) have fucking hot and humid weather. We've already had 2 days of 40C during the day and 20C during the night. But more to come..and the humidity.

>>36501 That's some serious 5head thinking right there! Thanks :)

I guess that's Swedish humor.

Stupid router. Get one in whatever the rest is using. There, solved your problem. Thank me later ;)

Power cuts don't happen very often and the cost of a UPS that can last long enough to power a 3D printer for many hours wouldn't be worth it.

I have a plan for a cheap UPS for my server, modem, router & network switch. Which would hopefully keep things running in the event of a power cut, but it's slightly complicated by the router running at 19V.

Nice little back up rig, although the design on it looks more like voronoi than fractal to me :)

Maybe you should hook it up to a battery? An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) works for pc's, it might work with 3D printers too (probably with a bit of tinkering).

In other news, yesterday I finished my back-up gaming rig. Sporting a Ryzen 3600 cpu paired with the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler, a B450M Mortar mobo, 2x 8GB of 3200MHz memory, two 500GB ssd's, powered by a Corsair RM550x power supply, and an old(er) GTX 1060 gpu. All that is neatly wrapped in a Fractal Design Meshify C case.

Fucking Bastards!!!! Another bloody power cut while I'm printing. At least it's a bit cooler now.

13/08/20(Thu)10:20

Already had one little power cut today! My 3D printer was an hour in to a 3 hour print so that got wasted, again! Oh well, I guess I'll leave printing anything until this weather passes.

>>36488 Even in times of biblical flooding the dumb cunts find a way to make themselves known :/

>>36489 Downstairs stays fairly cool thanks to the thick stone floors, but upstairs gets hot as fuck :(

>>36486 Here we'll have at least 4 more days of thunder(storms).

Btw, does your house stay cool? You have airco or the like?

I saw the flooding in Scotland. People still driving in their tiny cars through a flood, lol. I now can't seem to find the video, of course. So here's a pic of a random part of the UK.

12/08/20(Wed)20:23

I hope the worst has past. It's been thunder & lightning & heavy downpours for the last few hours Thankfully no flooding for me but I'm sure some people will in my part of the UK.
It's still hot as fuck and super humid :/

Thankfully I didn't get any more power cuts but the internet dropped out a few times for a minute or two.

I can't wait to do this all again tomorrow :/

No record broken in my house though.

>>36483 yep, we have every late afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

Google translate as it's too hot for me to do:

"Another record was broken during this heat period. On Wednesday, the mercury in De Bilt rose to 30 degrees Celsius for the seventh day in a row, which has never happened before since the measurements started in 1901, the KNMI and Weerplaza report.

The old national record dates from 1941 and 1975. In both years there was a series of six tropical days in De Bilt.

The regional record was also set in 1975 and is held by Maastricht. In that year, the temperature in the Limburg capital even rose to 30 degrees or higher for fifteen days in a row.

According to Weerplaza, that record will not be broken in the coming days, because Friday will probably end the series of tropical days.

More records were broken. For example, on Tuesday it was hotter than 35 degrees in certain places in the Netherlands for five days in a row. This had never happened in our country since 1901. In addition, last Saturday and Sunday were the hottest 8 and 9 August ever measured in the Netherlands respectively.

Thursday also promises to be a hot day with temperatures above 30 degrees. However, it does thunder in many places. From Friday it will be cooler."

Humidity sucks.
In a dry heat, you die while you're still standing.
Humidity, you fall down and moan and groan for several hours before you pack it in.

There's a joke that Irish people get a sun burnt when they switch on a light bulb :D
As someone with some Irish heritage it's sadly not far from the truth :/

Maybe it's time to move. I have an aunt in Galway, Ireland and when it's 20C there people will sun bath, lol. And prolly burn after 20 seconds.

Today's weather was awful humid. The extreme (for us) heat starts at 14:00 till 17:00 hours, but it only cools down enough around 22:00 hours.
