Absolutely! It ran throughout the ships I was on. Only time it could ever possibly come loose would be if you were getting shelled. Who the hell would be worring about asbestos lung problems at that point.

My Dad was surrounded by the stuff on his Navy ships! Even had it around his bunk! At 89 years old, he has no lung problems!

Insofar as it gave the lungs havoc, it's still the cheapest and best insulator I know of. That crap lasts forever. It made the best roofing and siding on the market not to mention pipe insulation.
